Yesterday, the Federal Cabinet approved the national implementing law for the European AI Regulation. With this, Germany is establishing how the AI Act will be organizationally implemented and supervised in the country.
The AI Act has been directly applicable in all member states since August 2024. However, a clear supervisory structure is only established with a national implementing law. It is now clear which authorities are responsible, how market surveillance will be organized, and how companies can find specific points of contact.

At the same time, responsibilities between the federal government and the states are clearly delineated, particularly in the areas of media oversight and transparency requirements.
